This year, we've contributed MYKA "Hope" necklaces, which will be
included in
National Breast Cancer Foundation's
HOPE kits. These kits, filled with essentials, offer solace,
inspiration, and strength to patients in their support groups.
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our employees have
courageously shared their personal stories to raise awareness among
women.
Paula, our dedicated Customer Success Manager, emphasized that cancer
isn't just about the color pink. While pink may hold a symbolic meaning
of support for some, Paula's perspective differs a bit.
“Pink can hide sometimes the tough journey of women who have to endure
the treatment and the psychological effects of it.”
Diagnosed at the tender age of 26 with stage 3 breast cancer, Paula
faced added complexity when her sister received a similar diagnosis at
31. Additionally, Paula endured the heart-wrenching loss of a dear
friend to metastatic breast cancer.
After a decade, Paula decided to share her challenging journey with the
disease and encourage other women at MYKA to do the same. Sharing
stories has the power to help women overcome trauma, and MYKA's
personalized jewelry is valuable for expressing these experiences. Paula
believes that genuine impact can only be achieved through the exposure
of real-life stories.
“I was diagnosed when I was 26 years old. A few years later, my sister
also had breast cancer. When I was 31 years old, my friend Claudia had
metastatic breast cancer and passed away.” “I chose this jewelry as a memorial to my friend Claudia. By wearing it,
I feel like I can carry my friend with me, her words echoing in my mind
like a mantra ‘Laugh for me’, as she wrote in her goodbye letter before
passing. The necklace brings back good memories and a powerful message
that every second counts, making me feel privileged to be alive. Somehow,
I believe I've materialized our friendship within this precious keepsake,
and it fills my heart with happiness to have her always close to
me”.
Necklace: Link Blossom Birth
Flower & Stone Necklace Inscription: StrengthCarole, Graphic Designer Carole's mom fought breast cancer twice. The first time it happened,
she was only 17 years old.
"I chose the word 'strength' for the blooming necklace because I felt the
need to be strong for my mom. I also believe she's an example of strength
in her battle, never asking for anything and striving to continue living
life normally, including going to work. Since she loves flowers, I
selected the blooming necklace, which reminds me of the strength we all
possess within ourselves and our ability to persevere, even when faced
with challenges." “My parents divorced when I was 17, and shortly after that, my mom told
me she had breast cancer. I think I will always link these two
events.”
Mara, Engagement Marketing Team Lead Mara's mom battled breast cancer when she was only 5 years old.Necklace: Angel Number
Necklace Inscription:222
“My mother battled breast cancer when I was 5 years old. Despite being
very young, one vivid memory stands out. Before my mother returned home
after her cancer surgery, my father explained to me that I wouldn't be
able to sit on my mom's lap, as it would cause her pain.”
“The concept of Angel Numbers really speaks to me. I chose the 222
necklace to represent alignment- that everything happens in the right
place and right time, meaning that everything is meant to be, even the
difficult things in life. This necklace represents the faith that my
mother gained while fighting her cancer. She became closer to God and
trusted through her faith that everything was meant to be and that she
would pull through.”

HelenDalia, Social Media Specialist Her mom and two grandmothers battled breast cancer.
"I chose this necklace, featuring the names of my mom and my two
grandmas, each paired with a birthstone. I decided to select the flower
based on the month they emerged victorious in their battles, the day they
reclaimed their lives. This choice holds more meaning for me than using
the flowers of their actual birth months. When I wear this jewelry, I feel
surrounded by strength, power, and genuine love—the kind of love that you
can truly feel. I's a beautiful way to keep them close to me at all times,
whether in my favorite moments or not, they are simply my favorite people.
""It all began when my mom, Fortuna, had to fight it. In 2019 and 2020,
things got tough again. Not only did my mom have to battle cancer, but
surprisingly, both of my grandmas, Helen and Dalia, faced it too."

Stone Layered Necklace Inscription:Live
"I chose the butterfly necklace because butterflies remind me of the
brevity and beauty of life. We need to strive to make life meaningful and
joyful and to never forget to truly LIVE. Wearing this necklace always
serves as a reminder of what truly matters in life and how fleeting it can
be. It encourages me not to dwell on difficulties and to maintain a
positive outlook." "About a decade ago, my aunt was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer.
It was a shock to all of us."

JourneyMichal, EVP HR While working as an HR Business Partner, two of her employees battled
breast cancer.
"I chose this necklace to represent the story of how I supported two
employees who battled breast cancer as their HR Business Partner (HRBP).
The three words are powerful and connect me to their story: being strong
women going through a journey in their lives. Their stories are not only
touching but also inspirational. It serves as a powerful example of
...”"... how empathy, compassion, and a supportive workplace environment can
significantly impact an employee's life during challenging times."
